Featuring the Bosch BMV080, the world's smallest particulate matter PM2.5 detector, this revolutionary new type of air quality sensor has no moving parts. Using convection, air moves gently through the sensor so it is absolutely silent. The multi-colored led lights illuminate with the color of the AQI providing immediate and at a glance particulate (PM2.5) air quality readings.

Powered by USB, this simple device has no WiFi or Bluetooth which ensures plug and play simplicity with no additional setup required.

Super Useful

I need to be able to check air quality around town on the go. I can easily jack this into my notebook at different places around town and instantly check the air quality. With the PurpleAir tools app, I can also gather the real-time readings and logs should I need them.

Smoke Report from Winnipeg Canada

An air quality health index search in Google brought me to purple air.com. I was amazed at the map presentation of the air quality. The summer in Winnipeg this year has been extremely smokey. I bought the unit to measure & monitor interior home air quality. Using a portable USB battery pack I was also able to monitor outside and in the car. It verified the inside of my car air is also know better than ambient despite a new premium cabin air filter. I’m very happy to purchase this device I would recommend anyone get it. Needs to be portable to take on long distance biking or hiking trips.

I'm hoping I can take it on my bicycle to check the air quality when I tide .I purchased a lithium battery with USB port

I love this little air monitor

I love this air monitor. It does exactly what it states it does and is exactly what I was looking for. Some reviewers critiqued that it doesn't send data to the map; however that's not what it claims to do. I have a zen that I use to monitor air quality and I use the purple air map to get the general data of the air quality where I live. What I wanted was a very simple "plug and play" item that would give me a quick snapshot of my indoor air, just so I know my air filters are working properly when it is smokey outside. The readings are very clear (the colours are exactly the same as all of the other monitors) and I can tell very quickly whether the air is acceptable or whether I need to crank up my air filters when we're in an air-quality warning. I also love the portability of it (the fact that I don't need to worry about internet or connectivity issues). Thank you so much for creating this - it was exactly the tool I needed/wanted and I am very happy with it!

Great little device, but…

It’s nice that the little portable reader gives a color quality read out much like the indoor air reader, but the indoor reader also allows you to read a number for the quality on a map or on your phone. It would be nice if this device had a similar capability or by downloading to a portable app.
