Plantower laser counters may need replacing for various reasons including age, contamination inside the device or simply failing after a long time in service.

Here you can purchase replacement particle detectors. They come in pairs for the PA-II series devices with a plastic component to aid in locating supporting parts. 

All Plantower laser counters have been pre-tested in PurpleAir test chambers.

  • NOTE: Please be sure to select the correct laser counter set for your device:
    • Each type has different connectors or mounting methods
    • The images can help identify what you have.

Excellent support

One of my counters was giving very high readings. After I tried the suggested cleaning routines, Purple Air offered to send replacement counters. I installed the new counters and now my unit is working properly. Great service.

I failed at installing a replacement laser counter

I did try to follow the instructions very carefully, but, nonetheless, my Purple Air is now dead. I had a lot of trouble transferring the old chip to the new laser counter. Oh well, it was fun having the device for a couple of years.

Laser may be fine but my unit still doesn't work

I am glad there is an option to replace the laser. It did not work for me and have tried several troubleshooting ideas. I wish I could just get a new unit but it is not in the budget at this time. Hoping others have better luck.
