The PurpleAir Classic is our original and most popular air quality sensor.
Designed for outdoor use, this monitor is perfect for residential, commercial, or industrial users looking to collect real-time PM2.5 AQI data. Connect it to WiFi to transmit that data to the interactive map, which is accessible by any smart device. This model is also available with an SD logger for offline data collection.

As of now, they're still in the boxes sent to us, and have not been distributed yet. But we've ordered dozens of them before and like them better than the "Touch." We just wish they would detect something besides PMs (reliably). Thanks.

Solid unit
The sensor is good quality. The setup was relatively painless, but I had to try to register 4 times before it worked on the website. I was happy to see how easy it was to pull the data into Home Assistant. Would love to have been able to get a POE (power-over-ethernet) model. Glad to have some coverage on the map where I live!

Nice To Know The Actual AQI
We live in an area where the EPAs AirNow sensor covers a huge area, one separated by a lot of topography, including a significant mountain range. I have asthma and live in an area where wildfires and inversions frequently make the air quality poor enough for me to avoid either 1) going out in it without an N95 mask, or 2) letting unnecessary quantities into the house. We purchased the PurpleAir Classic so we would now exactly what the AQI is throughout the day in our location.

Works like the one it replaced
I was fortunate to work with Purple Air’s Customer Service team to address a quirky failure mode on my several year old unit. Once the decision was made, the store shipped the unit and a USB cord to replace the one I sent in.
Unfortunately the USB cord had a female type end for the tie into my equipment that needed a male end. I had another to use and now have a unique cable that might need useable on some future project.
The store provided me tracking information to allow me to anticipate the unit’s delivery.

I can’t get it connected
I have tried numerous times to connect it to our wifi network and no luck. The we code isn’t recognized and I’m at a loss. Is it defective? What am I missing?
Hi Tim,
We're sorry that you've been running into issues connecting your sensor to WiFi. We're happy to help you troubleshoot if you send an email to contact@purpleair.com.
